Vacation Is Over

Yup, Vacation is over.

By that I mean, I'm back from North Carolina. By that I mean, it's time to get back to work.

Cardio; I'm in good shape. I still ride to work every day. Haven't missed a day of bicycle commuting for 6 weeks. 120 or so miles a week minimum. Blah blah blah.

I still have goals to achieve. I've spent the summer enjoying my new self, but there is still work to be done. I still can't bench my body weight. I still haven't run a 10k. I haven't tried recently, but I still don't think I can do 10 pull ups.

So, the riding isn't going to stop, but the weight lifting is starting back up again. In fact it started Monday with a nice upper body workout and I've been sore all week. Just goes to show what a few months off does to a body.

I do have the MS150 to ride in a few weeks. And I have some new goals to strive for, but more on that later. I just wanted it to officially be known that I'm going to be back in the fitness blogging world, setting new goals for myself, learning, tracking my progress, doin' stuff.

Welcome back, self!

I like it man! new goals for Bryan. Must feel good to post a pic of yourself sitting on a beach with your shirt off and feel fine about it (looking good by the way). Hopefully this means you might be blogging more too?

Lookin' good slick. Benchpressing your body weight is a pretty good goal for you. Once you start training, it probably won't take too long to achieve and will go a long way toward making your body a more balanced fitness machine...

If you're going to be maintaining that level of activity, you'll definitely want to make sure you're getting plenty of good fuel in your body. Lots of clean calories. Milk is a great way to add a good amount of calories without feeling like you're stuffing yourself. If you're interested in gaining all-around strength, I recommend checking out http://stronglifts.com/ and reading the book Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. Those are great resources for the beginning strength trainee.

I gotta say that I'm really excited to hear you've got a game plan for post-weight loss:

"I still can't bench my body weight. I still haven't run a 10k. I haven't tried recently, but I still don't think I can do 10 pull ups."

It seems people often hit their goal weight, but have nothing else to aim for. So, they get lax about their training and end up gaining weight back because they've failed to set any more goals.

Good job, bud.
